泥粒灰岩

~~ 簡介 ~~

依據Dunham（1962）對生物碎屑石灰岩的分類，泥粒灰岩（Packstone）原指含有石灰泥（包含黏土與粉沙顆粒等級的石灰質物質），但生物碎屑顆粒呈顆粒支持（grain-supported）方式沉積的石灰岩；因此，泥粒灰岩有別於以石灰泥支持（mud-supported）方式沉積的泥屑灰岩（Calcimudstone）與粒泥灰岩（ Wackestone）。其後，Embry與Klovan（1971）將粒徑觀點加入Dunham（1962）的生物碎屑石灰岩分類體系中，以大於2mm粒徑的組成含量為依據，將較為粗粒的生物碎屑石灰岩類另外區分出來（包括基質支持方式沉積的懸粒灰岩Floatstone與顆粒支持沉積的礫屑灰岩 Rudstone）；至於原先Dunham（1962）所提出來的泥粒灰岩（Packstone），則用以專指較細粒的含石灰泥，且呈顆粒支持方式沉積的生物碎屑石灰岩。
