What are sedimentary rocks?

Sedimentary rock is formed from minerals and even biological debris that has dissolved in water through chemical or weathering processes and transported by rivers, glaciers, wind, or ocean currents to be deposited in other locations. Over long periods of burying, bonding and lithification the sediments form rock, layer by layer.
