Usually the Amis would take the lunch boxes, holding cooked rice balls or other prepared foods, when out in the fields, fishing or hunting 　　According to tribe elders, traditional rattan or leave made lunch boxes could preserve food for a whole day and also the food would be enhanced with a sweet bamboo taste. 　　In general, a single woven container would have many uses. In addition to carrying food, the rattan lunch boxes (about 30-40 cm long) would also be used to hold traps or other tools.
