Manufacturing method

¡@¡@The Amis ceramic making method involved gradully beating the clay blank into shape. The folloing process involved collecting the clay, refining it and outdoor ceremonial firing. At the beginning of the proces a wine toast to the ancestors would be held, another toast made when collecting the clay and two more during firing. During firing lime used in betel nuts was placed inside the ceramic object.
¡@¡@To make a cooking pot two koreng clay blanks would first be made. After drying for ten hours, water would be rubbed around the mouth of one koreng and the other placed on top. The one up one down korengs would then be joined with clay strips on the outside. Then a branch would be used to pierce small holes in the layer seperating the two. The pot would then be polished.
