Thallus

The foliose thalli of Lobaria are large size and composed of irregularly branched lobes. Upper surface of thallus is plane, rugose, acunose, or ribbed. Distributional pattern of multiseriate rhizines and tomenta on the lower surface of thallus, generally sparse and scattered or just only on the central part of thallus. Cyphellae and pseudocyphellae are none.
