Introduction

The color and streak of graphite is black, the same as diamond, a carbon mineral. However, due to different structure, graphite and diamond have distant physical properties. Graphite falls into the hexagonal System with thin tubular and ease of cleavage; it has the soft texture and has hardness. It is flaky, soft and greasy. Graphite seldom has the chemical combination with oxygen and acidity. Besides that, the melting point of graphite is up to 3,000¢J and it has good conductivity of electricity and heat. Therefore, it is often used for the manufacturing of battery, electrode, and crucible. Graphite is also the important material for making pencils.
