Introduction
The mineral consists of copper and sulfur and small amounts of iron may be present. Covellite exhibits perfect cleavage in one direction, giving it a sheety, foliated appearance, just like mica sheet, and the thin sheets are flexible.Covellite is a rare and not so well distributed mineral. It is usually found, as secondary origin, with other copper minerals as a coating in zones of sulfide enrichment. Most Covellite minerals are found with other copper sulfides and are therefore more stable. |
