Methods of manufacture
Methods of manufacture ¡@¡@Traditionally, woven items were made using bamboo and rattan bark, made into strips with the former the man material. Rattan was mostly used to make more delicate woven containers, with the rattan bark used after being made into strips. ¡@¡@The Saisiat's speaker shaped back basket was commonly made using the hexagonal open cage method, with rattan or bamboo strips used to reinforce it around the mouth and bottom of the basket. The chief feature of the Saisiat basket was that it was carried using two shoulder straps, made usually from rattan, which were seperately made and attached to the basket using rattan strips. |
