Bunun earwear was worn usually for ceremonies with ceremonial clothing. Hanging earrings worn by both sexes would interfere with every day life so they mainly appeared as part of ceremonial attire. Triangular shaped earwear could only be worn after the coming of age ceremony. When worn, the hemp thread or string of beads that connected the two earrings was worn in front of or behind the neck of the wearer.
