Habit: Granular, reniform or botryoidal

Cleavage/Fracture: Rhombic dodecahedron ,{011}

Cleavage: Perfect Luster: Greasy

Color: Colorless, yellow, brown to black

Streak: White to brown

Specific Gravity: 3.9-4.1

Other Characteristics:

(1) Adamantine luster on cleavage surface

(2) As the amount of iron increases, the color will change from colorless, yellow, brown to black while the streaks will turn from white to brown.
