Shawls were simple in form, basically they were a rectangular piece of cloth with simple patterns. They were made by sewing tying two pieces of hemp cloth of the same length together.Most of the patterns was thin stripes but sometimes thicker stripe geometric patterns were used. The color of the horizontal or vertical patterns was mainly brown, black, red
Larger shawls were used in winter and smaller ones were used in summer. Neither size had buttons. Some shawls had a wool tie in the top left or right corner or had a ? pattern and these were only worn by important people. |
