Leaves

Usually 4-25 m high, with trunk to 5 m. in diam, the bark dark brown to black; banchlets stout; terminal buds with papyraceous scales. Leaves coriaceous, broadly ovate to lanceolateelliptic or rarely elliptic, deep green, glossy, 5-10.5 cm long, 3-8 cm broad, rounded or broad obtuse at base, acuminate to cuspidate at apex, slighly thicker and undulate at margin, entire at the lower part, serrulate distally, pinnate-nerved; petiole 3-8 cm long .
