Manufacturing method ¡@¡@Wooden pestles were made by shaving a tree branch into a club-like shaped object with round ends. The middle was thinner and served as the handle, with room for two hands. Both ends could be used. For single pestles, only one end was round, the body was straight, without the narrow handle part. ¡@¡@Otalan, the stone pestle, was made from a single stone or from two stones. Because the stones were often not long enough they were joined by bamboo or rattan. After the osolo bamboo or rattan connection broke they could be reconnected quite easily. |
