Bow harp

¡@¡@The bow harp la tuk is one of the Bunun¡¦s most important instruments. Like Taiwan¡¦s other Austronesian tribes, the Bunun did not use many musical instruments. The instruments of the high mountain dwelling Bunan were especially simple, taking materials from local sources. They were also without elaborate patterns.
¡@¡@Harps are one of the earliest string instruments made by mankind. The bow harp is a special Bunun feature. Like the name suggests, the origin of bow harps was the bows used for hunting. Sounds were made by plucking the strings or striking them with a rod.
¡@¡@The harp was the most common Bunun instrument. It was made from a long strip of bamboo curved into a bow shape, with one metal wires (in the old days grass fiber was used) attached to the two ends of the bow as strings. Bunun people would often entertain themselves by playing the harp alone. The harp was one of the tribe's most important instruments.
