Playing function and taboo

      

Harps were played during gatherings and ceremonies and banquets.They were also played by people alone to pass the time or cheer the spirit. The sound is light. Bunun youth would also play harps to pass on their affection or to entertain themselves. 　　 There were also playing taboos. Harps could not be played during the rice harvest so as to not affect the harvest. Harps would also not be played in households hit by misfortune or bereavement.
